4th of July IOV 65 Vikings Golf Cart Parade

Summer is in full swing!  Our Southern States have heated up, and our Northern Snow Bird friends have flown for the beautiful weather in our Northern climates.  If you read my article in the latest issue of Par for the Course, you would have learned that I grew up in Western New York.  My parents are retired and spend part of their year at the IOV 65 Viking Lake Park campground along the shore of Chautauqua Lake.  As it had been a couple of years since I was around the old stomping grounds I was fortunate to take a vacation up there over the 4th of July weekend.

The time I spent in cooler temperatures was wonderful, and also reminded me why I live in the Sub-Tropics.  We cooked over campfires, and watched amazing fireworks displays as well as participating in the annual 4th of July Golf Cart Parade!  As you will see in the following pictures, there were various vintages, and makes of carts on display for the campers to enjoy, most all of them decorated for the Holiday.  The Vikings Lake Park was one of the first places I visited, back in the 90’s, that really embraced the idea of using a Cart as primary transportation.  Kudos to the IOV 65!

What a time!  I am really going to let the pictures speak for themselves.  I traveled with my 2 daughters, and they are great.  The only drawback was that the older one (10 years old) wanted to drive the cart!  Please check out our adventures.  Also, if you are in that area and are interested in the Vikings Organization, click over to their website.  They do great things in the community, and pay taxes on Lake Front property, let’s support these guys!!

VALKOMMEN means Welcome. The International Order of Vikings is a Fraternal Organization consisting of families with Scandinavian heritage. Lodge # 65 is located along Chautauqua Lake.

We even had some hard working Kids join in!

The parade finished up with us all having a Golf Cart Cruise In.

Some of the Campers decided to go around the parade route again on the way to watch fireworks!

Midway State Park put on a great Fireworks show for us all!

As you can see from the pics, there were many carts.  I counted 32.  There were late model Precedents, Topless DS, RXV’s with brush guards, stock carts, lifted carts, personalized; wrapped carts, many carts had rear seats, and virtually all of them had Light Kits.  As I was looking at all the carts in the parade, I was thinking to myself that Stenten’s sells nearly every accessory I saw.

My vacation was nice.  I got to spend time with old friends, and I miss them already.  I hope that some of them come and visit me during the Chilly months!  And to our Snow Bird neighbors, get home safe.

Call us to order your parts anytime at 1-800-541-8333, and remember to be safe out there!

I was raised and educated in New York. After SUNY Fredonia I worked in the OTR Truck Industry. While testing and analyzing Radiators for trucks, I purchased a piece of equipment and started an Ultrasonic Cleaning Company. After 34 cold winters along the Lake Erie shoreline I moved to my favorite fishing spot. Now I have fun with Custom Golf Carts, and spend as much time outdoors with my wife and 2 daughters as I can.
