Samuel F.B. Morse, developer and owner of Pebble Beach Resorts, was inspired by the legend that Robert Louis Stevenson found inspiration for Treasure Island while roaming the dunes of Pebble Beach. The first hole of Spyglass Hill is even named after the classic novel and each hole thereafter is named after places and characters from it. It boasts spectacular views of the Del Monte Forest and the oceanfront. It consists of 5 holes amongst beautiful scenery and 13 holes that will truly challenge your skills. Spyglass Hill was #12 on Golf Digest’s list of America’s 100 Greatest Public Courses 2015/2016 and has consistently been included in lists of top resort courses globally for over 40 years.

Here you’ll find a breath taking view of the Pacific Ocean from a cliff-top covered in grassy dunes. Regrettably, golf carts are not allowed in this course, but that just gives you more time to soak in the beautiful scenery. Play through a 13-hole par-3 course designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw that is as challenging as it is fun. Follow the dips and arcs of the dunes and follow the gorgeous shoreline all the way down to the beach. The best part about this particular course is that all net proceeds are donated to the Wild Rivers Coast Alliance which aims to preserve and support the southern Oregon Coast.

Shadow Creek, MGM Resorts, North Las Vegas

Shadow Creek is a course on every golfer’s bucket-list. It’s an oasis of waterfalls, sloping greens and shady trees surrounded by rocky desert. Compared to the glitz of Vegas it is distinctly understated and natural. The only off putting part of this course might be the cost. At $500 you might want to consider studying up on your poker strategies with Ladbrokes and hitting the casino beforehand to get the funds, but the fee is absolutely worth it. The scenery is astonishing and you’re guaranteed a pretty exclusive game. A private limousine will pick you up and take you to the course and you’ll be greeted by your own personal caddie.
