To Blog, or not to Blog, that is the question

I was talking with some of my family this last month, and was asked, “Is writing a Blog worth the time you put into it?” That question made me pause, because I never thought about it.

Contributing to the Stenten’s Blog is part of my job.  One of the cool things about working for a Mom and Pop shop is wearing many hats.  I am reminded of a scene from the movie Office Space.  The cubicle across from the ‘star’ Peter, houses a woman who repeatedly squeaks, “Corporate accounts payable Nina speaking, just a moment.”

Nina

She says it exactly the same, with the same pacing, at least 5 times before the audio fades out.  Most of us in the Golf Cart business aren’t built like Nina.  We can’t just repeat the same motions hour after hour, day in and day out.  We crave the unknown excitement of what the next customer wants to build, or what wild question will be on the other end of the phone.  I bring that same sense of wonder and quizzical nature to my Blog posts.  If I am focusing on a line of products in a Blog, it gives me the chance to really learn about that series of units.  If I am talking about my favorite subject, future technology, I get really geeked out.  It is like taking a look at what might be, and what could be, and adding in a good dose of what should be.

My last Blog post I spoke about the concept of using LSV’s (electric) to move around large metropolises.  Next time I am going to get you all some information about the incredible things engineers are developing in regards to Internal Combustion.  Most of you will remember Cab-Over Peterbilts hauling loads across the highways of America.  Or perhaps a song made famous by C. W. McCall “Convoy.”

You will also remember the plumes of black smoke pouring out of those huge diesel engines.  Not so today. The OTR Tractors of today are making tremendous power, getting better fuel economy, and most important (in my opinion) what comes out the exhaust pipe is cleaner than your gasoline pickup.  Cleaner than  even a SMART car! Cleaner in fact than the air that gets sucked in the intake in most major cities!!  We will be talking mostly about the exhaust components that are used to clean up that exhaust.

The same technology is coming to your personal vehicle.  BMW, and Mercedes-Benz diesel cars already have small EGR coolers, but more on that in the December blog post.

I am of the opinion that a Blog is definitely worth it.  The excitement it generates is all positive.  Feedback from our dealers, or end users is awesome.  Please take time to rate our posts, or share them on your Facebook page.  Reach out to me personally if there is something you want to see on our Blog.  We have even spoken to a few Dealers about doing a Guest Spot on our Blog.  nate@stenten.com   or 1-800-541-8333.  Stay excited friends; you never know it may be me calling you the next time!

I was raised and educated in New York. After SUNY Fredonia I worked in the OTR Truck Industry. While testing and analyzing Radiators for trucks, I purchased a piece of equipment and started an Ultrasonic Cleaning Company. After 34 cold winters along the Lake Erie shoreline I moved to my favorite fishing spot. Now I have fun with Custom Golf Carts, and spend as much time outdoors with my wife and 2 daughters as I can.
