If you find yourself scrolling through the endless list of shows and movies on Netflix and are struggling for something to watch. I suggest you check out Metal Shop Masters which was just released this month (September 2021) on Netflix. This is a show similar to Forged in Fire but for welders and metal fabricators.
It is a competition show where a group of metal artists creates unique builds for a chance to win $50,000. However, unlike other shows competition shows this one is short with only about 6 episodes. The host Jo Koy, comedian, really has some cheesy dad jokes, but it is entertaining.
The Welders

- Lou, Las Vegas, Nevada
- Rae, Big Springs, Texas (@raeripple)
- Seven, Minneapolis, Minnesota (@butchcharming)
- Tom, Brownsburg, Indiana
- Frank (@frankledbettermetalart)
- Leah, Oakland, California (@leaharipotch)
First, it is fun to watch the fabricating and to observe the creative process these welders go through in creating and building. However, there are a few uncomfortable moments in the show that just make you feel for the competitors. Like in the first episode where 2 of the fabricators misunderstood the instructions. After that, in a later episode, the welders are given instruments to repurpose and when one team uses a wooden piano that was provided, they are criticized for making something that had wooden parts (then why was it even there!?). In conclusion, if you are looking for a show that is going to entertain with a bit of cringe and a few dad jokes peppered in this could be a good find for you.
If you are really in a rush I would recommend just jumping to the last episode. They roll out a pair of golf carts for the finalists to convert into post-apocalyptic vehicles and it is interesting to see the butchering and rebuild the carts.
